Guided by mindfulness and creativity, I strive to utilize my passion for research and love for design to help companies and individuals build great websites and digital experiences.
Previous to my journey into UX design, I worked in the edtech industry for 10 years where I gained experience in operational and metrics-driven roles while managing accounts and projects, as well as building and leading teams. It was during this exciting time in the edtech industry that I first learned about UX design and was immediately fascinated by its use of research, data, and human psychology to drive design decisions that create dynamic user experiences. I have also worked as a freelance graphic designer and so became drawn to the field due to my love of visual design as well.
Before my years working in edtech, I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Degree. As a teacher in training, I traveled to remote and impoverished areas in South Africa and Guatemala, where I spent time visiting schools and communities there. This experience began to deepen my desire to empower and inspire others, yet also embrace diversity and differences.
In addition, due to my business mindset and background working in marketing and communications as well, I have developed a solid understanding of research and trends as well as transforming data and numbers into meaningful and actionable insights. I understand what it means to champion the user, yet keep business needs and objectives in mind. Also, thanks to my years working in start-up environments, I thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. I helped start a magazine publishing business in my 20s and worked for a start-up edtech company that had grown into a large tech business and a global brand by the time of my departure almost a decade later.
Originally from Long Island, NY, I currently live in Maryland with my family. I am a hippy at heart who loves dance music. I am also a wife of an artist/ painter and mom of 2 little ones. When I am not designing, I enjoy spending time with my family going on adventures, exploring nature, and discovering new places. I love to draw and create art. Most recently, I took a course called “Art and Soul” where I learned how to make art from polymer clay. I believe in life-long learning and am always seeking opportunities to better myself as a person and as a designer.
